St. Patty's Day

I know it was 10 days ago. My excuse for the delay is that last week I made Mark reinstall the OS on my computer. Then, Monday, I got sick. Then, Thursday morning, we closed on our new house, and have been doing various chores over there until now.

St. Louis has a very strong Irish Catholic tradition, and therefore, St. Patrick's Day is a pretty big deal here. I came up with a creative and festive outfit (creative, because it had to fit my big belly), and met up with some friends to check out the parade in Dogtown. The crowd was more entertaining than the parade, but despite this, it was a fun outing with fun people. Here are some pics of the crowd and the beautiful people I know:

Here I am with my pregnancy buddy:

Can you believe this cutie? His amazing grandma made the adorable hat:

Stay tuned. Coming soon...Bun's latest ultrasound pics.

I'm making a quilt

I was actually making a quilt before, but I got tired of it. So, with a little motivation from a friend, I decided to start another one. I bought this fabric four years ago, knowing that when I had a baby, I would want to make a black, white, and red quilt.

I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Easter is Coming!

Last night I had my first Cadbury Mini-Egg of the season. It was glorious.

Bun is a BOY!

The picture is pretty self explanatory, but in case there is any confusion, Bun's boy parts are in the top-middle, under the four arrows and the helpful label from our doctor. Well, he doesn't seem to be at all shy.

my Kohl's adventure

I still had merchandise credit at Kohl's from my wedding. After work yesterday, I decided to go use it up since I was halfway there already. I scoured the store. I very much wanted to spend the money on something practical or on something I would end up buying anyway. But, there was nothing. I didn't like the purses. I tried on tons of maternity clothes. I even looked at baby toys. I couldn't find anything that I felt confident wouldn't just become clutter. So, I decided to buy something completely impractical, but that I would love and use. And that is how I came to have this necklace:

I also bought earrings to go with it. When I got home, though, I realized they are broken. And since I also realized I already have a pair that match the necklace, I probably won't re-buy them. Thus, I will end up with more merchandise credit. Vicious cycle.

my 8:30pm dinner

I had a peanut butter and banana panini and Cheerios. Pregnancy is weird. But, I love it. I love all the food I let myself eat. I love being tired, and having an excuse to sleep...a LOT. I love watching my belly grow, and feeling my little one get stronger every day. I love the way Mark looks at me. I love my baby.

CAST YOUR VOTE!!!

Thursday, we find out if Bun is a boy or a girl. We have been very vocal about the fact that Bun is probably a boy. 'Probably' isn't a strong enough word, we are fairly certain. This is your chance to either agree or disagree with us. Please leave a comment and tell us if you think Bun is a BOY or a GIRL. (If it's a girl, and you guess GIRL, you will have license to seriously mock us.)

2 March 2010: 17 weeks, 2 days

This post comes with two pictures. The first is so you can appreciate my new $8 maternity outfit. The other is so you can REALLY see how big I am.

Note 1: Please ignore the tacky plastic on my windows.

Note 2: I went back to Wal-Mart today. I was frustrated to discover, that could have been a $6 outfit.

I 'heart' Boston Fire Department

I went to Boston a couple weeks ago to visit my sister. I got bored one day while she was at work, so I went outside to take some pictures of her building.

I was pretty good about taking the stairs to the fourth floor the whole time I was there. Since I am a lazy pregnant person, I figured it would be good for me. But, being a lazy pregnant person, I didn't feel like taking the stairs when I came in from taking pictures. So, I got in the elevator, the door shut, I pushed the "4", and...nothing. I pushed the "4"...nothing. I pushed the "open"...nothing. So, I took out my cell phone and called the Department of Public Safety number posted on the wall. They connected me with the fire department, and they promptly came to get me out. Although they came promptly, I was in there for about 40 minutes. It took a while for them to get the door open. I heard lots of metal on metal, swearing, and parts of the door falling to the basement. None of these sounds were encouraging. But, eventually, I got out. And I had time to take some pictures of the inside of my sister's building.
