Forgive the slow start

The blog hasn't grown much yet. We have been very busy trying to finish school, etc. But after a short sabbatical, things will really take off and get exciting. The only reason I set it up when I did was so it would already be established when we get home from the honeymoon.

Mark and I just arrived in Denver. The most exciting part about that statement is that it implies bigger things (for example, we both graduated and we don't have to go back to UT). Our wedding is on May 10 and it will be followed immediately by a honeymoon and an open house in Denver. There won't be much, ok, anything, posted on the blog until we get back from the open house (around May 20). This is just a heads up and a plea not to give up on reading the blog. There is lots of fun stuff coming. Here's what you can be excited about:

-Mark and the Penske
-Careen and Mark covered in raw egg
-Pictures of our wedding and honeymoon

Rachael's Bridal Shower

Last Saturday (4/12) my friend Jessie threw an amazing bridal shower for my other friend Rachael. We ate, played, talked, etc. Usually, at things like this, Jessie is behind the camera. But, since she was the hostess, I played photographer. It was a great shower. So, thanks to Jessie for putting it all together. Here are a few pictures of the event.

Jessie showing us the adorable book she made for Rachael. If you've never heard of it, check out http://www.blurb.com/. Jessie used Rachael's engagement pictures and had a custom book printed so we could all sign it and write her little notes.

This is Rachael, getting ready to play super fun shower games and open presents.

Amy had a little trouble with the grapes, but she persevered.

Jessie discovered this amazing bake shop in American Fork called Flour Girls and Dough Boys. The cookies were from there. They were delicious...and I don't like sugar cookies.

And, of course, the tomato, basil and mozzerella skewers.

Never say never...

I always said I would never have a blog. But now that I am getting married, my friends insist that I have one. It's as if they didn't care about the mundane details of my life until I found my eternal accessory. What does a girl need to make her life interesting? A husband, of course. I am still unconvinced that my life is going to become any more "blogworthy" than it has been, but the social pressure is intense. Maybe convincing other people to follow suit makes people feel better about having blogged away all of their privacy. And yet, I am curiously excited to join the ranks. It makes me feel special, in a way, that people want to read and comment on my life.

Now that I’ve been convinced, set up the blog, and am officially "one of you" (I'm surprised there isn't some sort of initiation, unless it was finding a husband), I only have one problem. How do I tell my fiance? Part of what he loves about me is my fierce reaction to social pressure, hesitancy to conform to the norm, and the fact that I refused to create a "wedding website." Add to this the fact that, not only do we now have a blog, but I used a quippy play on his last name in my christening of that blog. But in the end, whether or not he understands, he will always love me. And whether he likes it or not…I am a blogger.
