I'm going crazy!!!!!

I love my baby SOOOOO much. Which is why I HAVE to sleep train him. But, this is, well, it's not the hardest thing I've ever done, but it is REALLY hard. It's incredibly hard. I'm not used to listening to him cry. He's not a crier. He never has been. But he will cry for a REALLY long time before he falls asleep and it breaks my heart. It takes all of my willpower to stay OUT of his room. My brain comes up with all sorts of horrible things that could be going on in there, but I just have to wait until he stops crying to prove to myself that he is just sleeping and wasn't in there dying the whole time.

I just printed this and taped it to his door to strengthen myself.

"Establishing healthy sleep habits might mean some crying if they get a second wind, because they are overtired, which will be hard on you, the parent. But don't let your baby cry for more than one hour at naps, and when you do go to [him], be calm and be consistent with nap schedules based on Drowsy Signs and clock times, because that's what will help your baby learn. You are not abandoning your baby—you are giving [him] all the attention when [he] is awake. But now, [he] needs to be alone to sleep."

We fired the reindeer.

Traditionally, reindeer are supposed to be big helpers when it comes to holiday activities. However, we found that this isn't always the case. After a long, painful, failed attempt to get a picture for our Christmas cards, we fired the reindeer. After all, it's not like we can fire the baby. We did get a couple fun shots, just nothing Christmas card worthy.

We call this one, "Fear not..."

"Dad, are we done yet?"

"Seriously, I'm not having any fun."

"OK, maybe just a little."

"Really, though, I'm done."

I love to laugh,

HA, HA, HA, HA,

Loud and long and clear,

I love to laugh,

It's getting worse ev'ry year.

The more I laugh,

The more I fill with glee,

And the more the glee,

The more I'm a merrier me,

It's embarrassing!

The more I'm a merrier me!

HA, HA, HA!

Dear Uncle Charles,

I'm so glad you came for Thanksgiving. Thank you for hanging out with us and for babysitting me so I didn't have to go to work with Mommy. You're the best. I asked my dad, and he said I could invite you to come back anytime. So, if you are ever bored...

Love,

Dillon

Mmm...yams

Dillon was a bit sad about not being able to enjoy any of the delicious Thanksgiving feast made by his daddy. Especially, after he spent the entire day being enticed by the aromas of food preparation.

But, to temper the sting of disappointment, I let him try some yams. Really, they were Gerber sweet potatoes, but for the sake of festivity, let's call them yams.

As you can see, they were a hit.

Oh, thank you.

He ate the entire jar. (This is especially impressive considering he hasn't had solids since we posted about the cereal.)

I scraped the sides, but he still wanted to lick the jar.

Eventually, though, he was satisfied.

Mmm...yams.

Dillon's first snow

Happy Thanksgiving!! Dillon (well, I) was very excited about the snow today. I love the first snow of the season. And how festive that it happened on Thanksgiving? And how fun that Dillon's first Thanksgiving gave him his first snow? Sometimes, the first snow is a disappointing sleetish flurry. But this year gave us FAT FLUFFY flakes of watery winter wonder.

I tried to get Dillon excited about the positively perfect precipitation, but he was mostly concerned with the chill and and his cold wet head. Nevertheless...

Bee Gees

Dillon has been a little sick lately, but one thing that works well to calm him down is this video:

It has to be the Bee Gees singing the song though. When Mark sings, the result is completely different.

Dillon is very excited for Christmas. Anyone else?
